Müller Harald Siegfried WilhelmDr. Sci. (Engineering), Professor

Place of work, position: University of Karlsruhe, Institute of Technology – KIT, Professor

Foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering.

German scientist, civil engineer, honorary university professor and honorary president of the International Federation of Building Concrete (FIB). He is an officially appointed expert in the fields of concrete and masonry construction, building materials and building physics. Research focuses on concrete technology, material failure mechanisms, building maintenance and life cycle management. Through a deep understanding of chemical and physical processes at the microscale, coupled with the use of rheological and/or numerical models, it has been possible to realistically predict various deformation and damage processes. The use of multiscale methods is not limited to modeling corrosion processes. Using mechanical modeling at the particle level, it was also possible to predict the electrophysical interactions between individual components of fresh concrete.

Research on creep and shrinkage of concrete has received worldwide recognition. The principles developed were included in the 1990 and 2010 Fib Model Codes, adopted by many countries in their concrete standards, and enshrined in German and European concrete construction standards. In the last few years, he has turned his attention to research into the sustainability of concrete and contributed to the quantification of sustainability at the level of building materials.

He is a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the International Federation of Building Concrete (FIB) and the board of the German Committee for Reinforced Concrete. In 2015/2016 – was the president of fib.
